Thoroughbreds also known as racehorses are a breed of horse that is often used for racing. Thoroughbred horses are considered hot-blooded horses for their speed, agility, and spirit. They horses were first bred during the early 1700s by mating Arabian with English horses. Though thoroughbred breeds used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, technically, it refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. These horses are tall, slim, athletic, and they perform with maximum excretion, which makes them most suitable for racing. These horses have been specifically breed to be the fastest and strongest with the highest levels of endurance. Horse racing is one of the oldest of all sports, and its basic concept has undergone virtually no change over the centuries.

It developed from a primitive contest of speed or stamina between two horses into a spectacle involving large fields of runners, sophisticated electronic monitoring equipment, and immense sums of money, but its essential feature has always been the same. As with humans, some horses are just naturally better suited to running; some are built to be sprinters, with bulging muscles and a rapid stride, others are long distance athletes, lean and supple with an long stride not unlike the differences you would see between human sprinters and marathon runners. The most distinctive trait of all thoroughbreds is their lineage.

All are descendants of three individual horses the Byerley Turk, the Darley Arabian, and the Godolphin Arabian. These horses were given the last names of their owners were the three horses originally used to produce the thoroughbred line during the early 1700s. The family lines of each thoroughbred horse have been meticulously recorded for the past 300 years to ensure that they are part of the historical line. Thoroughbred horse breeding aims to create the fastest and strongest horse available. Their strength is tested on the racetrack, and the best horses are bred to continue the thoroughbred line. Contemporary thoroughbred horses are significantly faster and taller than the thoroughbreds of the 18th century. While racing, Thoroughbreds are controlled by jockeys, who sit atop a saddle on their backs. Other important human figures in the sport of Thoroughbred racing include trainers, who are in charge of the horses’ exercise, feeding, and training regimens to prepare them for the actual races.

These horses differ from other breeds in their muscular structure. Quarter horses, a common breed of horse, are bred for strength and speed and have the muscular structure to produce these qualities. Arabian horses have musculature that promotes endurance, so while they can travel for great distances, they are not necessarily good candidates for carrying heavy loads. Thoroughbred horses possess muscles that give them both of these qualities and excel at both speed and endurance. 고스톱

Colors
There are seven different official colors for racehorses:

Grey (Gr) – ranging from bright white to steel-colored grey.

Bay (B) – covers a huge range of the color brown, from bright bay through to dark bay, which is basically black. Bay horses have black manes and tails.

Chestnut (CH) – a reddish or ginger coat color, with a mane and tail to match.

Roan (Ro) – a Roan horse has an even mixture of white hairs mixed in with another color.

Brown (Br) – a horse registered as Brown will also have a brown mane and tail.

Black (Bl) – a purely black horse, but this is rare!

White (Wh) – this classification is also very rare. Most horses that appear to be white will in fact be classed as Grey, with black skin. Grey horses tend to get lighter in color as they get older.
